2023 JCAG Conference Recap

The 2023 Community Service events was done in collaboration with ESP Inc (Extra Special People) in Watkinsville, GA, Athens Area Habitat for Humanity, and Jittery Joe's Coffee UGA Miller Learning Center. 

The 2023 JCAG Conference took place at the University of Georgia Center for Continuing Education & Hotel in Athens, GA. 

We had multiple experts in their respective fields speak at the conference this year. The Presenters were Niki Lemeshia (Georgia Commission on Family Violence), Ryan Phagan (Department of Juvenile Justice), Dr. Kenyon Brown (Department of Family & Children Services), Priti Griffin (Connection Matters), and Kathleen Kennedy (Children's Advocacy Centers of Georgia). The topics covered Family Violence, CSEC Advocacy, DJJ, DFACS, and Legislative Updates.

Family Ties, Inc. was this year's vendor. The agency provides intensive, home-based counseling and community integration services for families and children. They offer CORE, Telemental Health, Private Consulting, School Based Programs, and DFCS Services. For more information, click the link below.

The 2023 JCAG Conference Award Luncheon took place on June 1st. The awards and scholarship recipients were acknowledged during this time. Please refer to the Awards page for this year's recipients.

Dru Anderson – John P. Johnson Scholarship Recipient (Henry Co. - PO Charlatte Smith)

The requirements to receive the scholarship was an essay, provided a letter of acceptance from the college she plans on attending, and submit transcript/current report to the board.

Dru met all the requirements and was voted as the 2023 recipient. She will be attending Georgia State University’s Perimeter College and she received $500.00 from JCAG Scholarship fund. Dru delivered an amazing speech to recognize Eric Levels and her P.O. C. Smith. Mr. Level was a positive influence on the youth doing her community service hours.
